In the month of March 2009, we coined a thought to organize a Health Check Up Camp with a focus to serve under privilege section of society and Our Members have identified a location as Rahul Nagar Slum Area, Near Mulund Colony in Mulund (W).
Ashish Goyal and Subhradeep Bhattacharya was the ‘Umang Champion’ who was responsible for all arrangements for this activity. Team Umang had a group of 60 Volunteers for this Camp.
When we approached hospitals for their support, we have received a very positive response from J J Hospital who have provided us whole team of Seven Doctors. We had Dr Khyati Mehta from Breach Candy Hospital, students from Nayar Hospital to assist the Senior doctors and technician from G T Hospital. In all we had a team of 14 Doctors and technicians from different hospitals.
We have divided this Health Camp in 2 parts:-

2. Awareness Sessions
We have organized a series of medical examinations for all the patients:-
1. Registration
2. Height & Weight Measurement
3. Peak Flow Test (PFT)
4. Spirometry
5. Blood Pressure Examination

and few others…
On 5th June 2009, we all have achieved to examine 314 patients, we have identified few patients who have been suggested for further treatment with Dr Kalpana Kothari (LBS Marg, Mulund –West)
Team Umang have also spend a day with Slum kids with the intention of spreading awareness about Proper nutrition, health & hygiene and Sanitation awareness among them.
The response and turn around was really heart warming and over whelming. We could arrange a thorough health check Up for 300+ people in a day. Team Umang could manage to arrange senior doctors from above said hospitals.
We concluded our day with “Sit & Draw” drawing competition for more than 100 Slum Kids who have made wonderful drawings on the piece of paper. We have distributed almost 25 prizes for the drawing competition and which gave us smiling faces all around. We could feel Joy and enthusiasm within the kids which was our achievement for the day.
